Educational Guide
Academy is an innovative program which will allow students in all grades to learn and practice 21st Century Skills.  Each grade will explore different themes and each year will build on what was learned previously.  As a graduation requirement, students will keep a digital portfolio throughout the 4 years of Academy to record progress and accomplishments and ultimately to demonstrate proficiency in the skills and knowledge covered. Students who begin the program as freshmen should be able to demonstrate/document proficiency in all of the exit outcomes by the end of their senior year.  Students will receive 1/4 credit per year for Academy for a total of 1 credit after 4 years.  Awarding of the credit will be based on participation and the student’s digital portfolio. As a required course for all students, Academy will be held on the second and third Tuesday of each month.  On those days, classes will be shortened slightly to allow for a 1 hour academy block.  In this way, no regular classes will be missed.
Grade level teams will plan and execute academies around central themes.  Academies may meet in small groups, or as an entire grade, depending upon the activity planned.  Outside speakers and resources will be utilized to supplement the team members’ expertise.

International Student Program

Students Roncalli High School accepts students from around the world who are pursuing their education in the United States. This is different from a foreign exchange program in that it is much more than a cultural experience. These international students are here to complete their secondary education and in many cases the students plan to continue in American universities.

This program benefits all our students in many ways, allowing them the opportunity to experience friendships with students from various cultures and countries.  They will gain a global perspective through the eyes of young people from backgrounds that are vastly different from their own.

Host families are always needed.  Consider hosting a student and you will learn about another culture, enrich their family life, gain a global perspective, and help a young person achieve their dream!
